Social media reacts to Raiders’ valiant effort and late-game mistake

The Las Vegas Raiders and Kansas City Chiefs met on Black Friday for their second meeting this season. Social media was active throughout the game and Raider Nation supported their team from the start.

The first quarter of the game was filled with penalties, most of which went to the Raiders. Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes led the Chiefs down the field. Much to the surprise of Raiders fans, the Raiders were able to hold Kansas City to a field goal and take an early 3–0 lead.

Even when the Raiders got the ball on the first down, it looked like they weren’t going to be competitive on offense, giving up a punt rather quickly to give the ball back to the Chiefs.

After the Raiders managed to get the ball back and contain the Chiefs, forcing them to punt, the Raiders offense must have discovered something in them when the defense was on the field. In the final seconds of the first quarter, the Raiders started to get their act together.

Returning quarterback Aidan O’Connell found receiver Jakobi Meyers on back-to-back throws down the field, bringing the Raiders into the red zone for the first time in the game. Even though they were able to get on the field, Kansas City’s defense was strong, holding the Raiders to a field goal and tying the game 3–3.

The next time the Raiders got the ball, they punted on a field goal, giving the Chiefs better field position. This missed opportunity by the Raiders gave the Chiefs enough room to rush ahead and score the first touchdown of the game. What could have been a 6-3 Raiders lead turned into a 10-3 Chiefs lead by halftime.

The way the second half started for the Raiders had fans very vocal about X when the officials said Amir Abdullah missed a first down and then proceeded to miss a first down. Whether it was a missed call or not, the Chiefs took advantage and made their way into Raider territory. Luckily for the Raiders, penalties set the Chiefs back, so they had to settle for a field goal. 13-3.

However, the Raiders fought back immediately, with O’Connell throwing a deep pass to Brock Bowers to bring the Raiders to the 25-yard line, but the Chiefs defense was too strong, which sacked O’Connell, forcing the Raiders to punt. goal, and the field goal was unsuccessful again. The Chiefs still held a 10-point lead.

After being down 16–3, the Raiders had a stunning 69-yard kickoff return that put the Raiders in strong field position. O’Connell took advantage of this field position, throwing a 33-yard pass to Bowers, and a successful field goal attempt brought the Raiders and the fans back into the game with a 16-10 score.

The Raiders took matters into their own hands when they forced the Chiefs to punt on their next possession. On the first play of the fourth quarter, O’Connell sent the ball deep to Tre Tucker for another Raider touchdown, followed by a nice extra point; The Raiders took their first lead of the game. 17-16.

Both teams made sure to perform in front of the national crowd, keeping the game going until the fourth quarter. After a successful field goal, the momentum and lead returned to the Chiefs. Although the Raiders lost again, the way they had played up to that point proved they were ready for Kansas City.

The Raiders got the ball back with 5:15 left in the game, trailing by two, and had no time to waste moving the ball and racing the clock, hoping to score and not give the Chiefs time to punt back. But Kansas City’s push to take the lead was halted by a failed third field goal.

The Raiders then managed to keep the Chiefs on the board, forcing them to punt, and with 1:56 left, the Raiders had life. It takes a good enough drive with no timeouts to get into field goal range and end the losing streak.
