Farmers encouraged to adopt PAU’s Nutrition Garden model

The farmers’ awareness program was organized at the Central Institute of Post-Harvest Engineering and Technology, Abohara.

The team comprising Dr. Siliya, Dr. Pradeep and Dr. Bharat Gawade from the National Bureau of Plant Genetic Resources (NBPGR) educated farmers on the history of conservation of plant genetics and appealed to them to identify local varieties that produce good yields.

Dr. Anil Sangwan, Director, Regional Research Centre, Punjab Agricultural University, Abohar, spoke about the importance of horticultural crops for human health and balanced nutrition and urged farmers to adopt the Nutrition Garden Model developed by PAU and create nutrition gardens in every home for fruits and vegetables were available all year round.
