Hyderabad: Accusing Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy of conspiring to destroy the Gurukul education system in the state, senior BRS leader and former bureaucrat R.S. Praveen alleged that the chief minister was systematically destroying gurukul schools to prevent weaker sections of the population from studying. quality education and deprive them of a good future.

He condemned Forest Minister Konda Surekha’s claim that he was behind a series of food poisonings that occurred in government and boarding schools in the past few weeks. “I demand that the government order a CBI probe into food poisoning cases. People will know who is behind it,” he said.

Addressing a press conference at Telangana Bhavan on Saturday, Praveen said Revanth Reddy wants to destroy the education system in the state and hence has not appointed an education minister since last year.

“The CM kept the education portfolio with him so that the education sector was destroyed and students belonging to weaker sections did not get education. He himself stated that because of the gurukuls, children have no emotional connection with their parents and tried to dissuade them from joining the gurukuls. There are already 40 per cent vacancies in gurukuls in the state as parents do not send them to college,” he said.

He claimed that since the Congress came to power, 48 students have died in the state, of which 23 students committed suicide as they could not bear the poor conditions in the residential schools, eight died under suspicious circumstances and 13 due to illness. health.

Education, being one of the most important portfolios, should have been important and talented people should have been appointed as minister, but the chief minister deliberately kept the ministry to himself so that it would be neglected, he alleged.

Ever since the Congress party came to power in the state, students have been staging protests across the state for teachers, facilities and quality food, he said, adding that the Congress had completely destroyed the boarding schools set up by the former chief minister and BRS . President K. Chandrashekhar Rao.

“KCR has opened more than 1,000 residential schools in the state and provided the best education to students. He even proposed schemes to enable students from weaker sections to study abroad. He provided the students with quality food, dresses, cribs, blankets and even nightgowns. Students today struggle to get these opportunities. Students are sick. Students and college managements are forced to hold dharnas on roads, leaving their studies aside,” he said.

Commenting on the ‘Gurukula Bata’ program organized by BRS from Saturday to December 7 across the state to know the prevailing conditions in educational institutions, Praveen said that this initiative was only aimed at knowing the condition of gurukuls and not politicization of this issue.

“KTR asked BRS leaders to visit boarding schools, KGB, model schools, government boarding schools and colleges. Party MLAs, MLCs, MPs, local leaders and student wing leaders visited these educational institutions. Based on the results of the visit, a report will be presented to the Karachay-Cherkess Republic,” he said.
