The Battersbys will experience further shock in Coronation Street next week as they learn more about the death of Les (Bruce Jones).

As fans know, the character was killed off-screen last month, and his daughter Lynn (Jane Danson), stepdaughter Toyah (Georgia Taylor) and stepson Chesney Brown (Sam Aston) were stunned to learn of his passing.

As our spoiler for Wednesday’s episode reveals, the family gathers to hear Les’ will read out at Adam Barlow’s (Sam Robertson) law office.

Adam states that Les only had a meager amount of savings to leave Lynn, Toya and Chesney.

His stepdaughter Fiz Dobbs (Jenny McAlpine) gets to keep a monogrammed lighter, and Chesney also gets his famous snakeskin jacket. A lifelong Status Quo fan, Les also left the final copy of the band’s Piledriver album with his pal Kirk Sutherland (Andy Whyment).

However, Les’s family are stunned when Adam reveals that the abattoir Les was working at when he died is willing to pay them £50,000 if they agree to sign a non-disclosure agreement.

Adam says he has no more information about the sequence of events that led to his accident, but the company’s offer of hush money is immediately viewed with suspicion.

“That doesn’t sound clever at all,” observes Nick Tilsley (Ben Price).

— Fifty thousand for a non-disclosure agreement? It’s very clever. We need to challenge that,” agrees Chesney.

Leanne is shocked and needs to go outside to get some air, while the rest of the family is horrified by what they just heard.

Will they be able to get to the bottom of Les’s death or will they accept the offer of money from the slaughterhouse?

Coronation Street will air these scenes on Wednesday 4 December at 8pm on ITV1 or first from 7am on ITVX.
