More than 150 two-wheelers were reduced to ashes in a fire at Cantt railway station in Varanasi

More than 150 two-wheelers were destroyed in a fire that broke out at a parking lot at Varanasi’s Cantt railway station, officials said on Saturday.

There were no reports of casualties.

According to railway officials, the incident occurred on Friday evening when a fire broke out near one of the platform parking lots.

They said after receiving information about the incident, teams of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) along with fire tenders rushed to the spot to douse the flames.

The fire was brought under control, but more than 150 cars were burned to the ground, they added.

Additional Railway Manager Lalji Chaudhary expressed regret over the incident.

He said that the parking lot was equipped for railway workers and due to the fire, a lot of damage was caused.

No one was injured in the fire, Chaudhary said, adding that a commission has been formed to investigate the matter.
