Surbiton: Teens arrested after police injured by chemical agent

Two British Transport Police (BTP) officers were taken to hospital after being “exposed” to a caustic alkaline substance during an incident at Surbiton railway station in south-west London.

They were injured after approaching two people they believed were acting suspiciously at approximately 16:20 GMT on Friday.

Their injuries are not considered life-altering or life-threatening, according to BTP.

Two boys, aged 14 and 16, were arrested on suspicion of possessing a noxious substance in a public place and conspiracy to cause grievous bodily harm.
